History

 
International School of Hydraulics (till 2003 a national event) has very long tradition and it was initiated in 1981 and took place without interruption each year. Throughout all that long 25 years period it has been successfully organized by the Institute of Hydro-Engineering of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The School has been carried out under the auspices of the Committee for Water Resources Management of the Polish Academy of Sciences and International Association of Hydraulic Engineering and Research.

Starting from the 26th organization of International Events was taken over by the Institute of Geophysics, Polish Academy of Sciences. The XXVI School took place at Goniądz in Biebrza National Park, the XXVII at Hucisko /the Eagle's Nest/ situated in the heart of Jura Region in southern Poland, the XXVIII at the Podewils Castle in a small town of Krag, the largest 15th Century Knight's Castle in Pomerania, the XXX at the Wiejce Palace one of the most beautiful historic buildings in Western Poland, the XXXII at the Palace Łochów located in a picturesque valley of Liviec River, an hour away from Warsaw, the XXXIV at the Palace Żelechów situated in a historical building and located 87 km from Warsaw and the XXXVI in Jachranka village on the very shore of Zegrze Reservoir, about 35 km from the center of Warsaw.

All events turned out to be a great success and gathered many researchers from various countries, among them the European leaders in the field of hydraulics. Starting from 2008 International School of Hydraulics will take place every second year.
